Designed by the renowned Danish architectural firm 3XN, this project revamps the aging 1965 structure into a contemporary masterpiece that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings. With its recent completion, the Tinnerbäcksbadet has become a focal point in Linköping, offering a blend of functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
A Harmonious Blend with Nature
Thoughtful Spatial Composition
The Tinnerbäcksbadet is designed to cater to a variety of recreational needs, with facilities spread over three distinct structures. The main entrance and public areas, including changing rooms and training pools, are situated on the ground floor. Above these, the fitness and spa areas house amenities like a whirlpool, steam bath, saunas, and a relaxation basin, offering a comprehensive wellness experience.
The swimming areas are particularly noteworthy. The 25-meter pool, 50-meter sport pool, diving basin, and family pool with water slides are designed to accommodate diverse activities. The family pool area, adorned with active white 25×25 mm mosaic tiles, provides a playful yet elegant environment, while the competition pools and their surroundings feature sand-grey Chroma Pool tiles, ensuring durability and slip resistance.
Sustainable and Durable Materials
Sustainability is at the core of the Tinnerbäcksbadets design philosophy. The extensive use of Agrob Buchtals ceramic tiles, covering 18,000 m², is a key factor in the buildings longevity and sustainability. These tiles, made from natural raw materials, contribute to the buildings timeless elegance and durability. The Savona series tiles in warm earthy tones are used extensively in public areas, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The building has achieved the Swedish Miljøbyggnad sustainability certificate in silver, thanks to its use of natural materials like cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels and filigree wooden slats. These materials not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also improve the buildings acoustic performance and environmental footprint.
Innovative Design Elements
Furthermore, the buildings façade, with its circumferential, diagonally cut window strips and irregularly corrugated sheet metal panels, is inspired by waters natural, dynamic element. This design not only adds to the buildings aesthetic appeal but also reflects its functional and sustainable core.
