Quebec Design Talent Leads Prix Monuma 2026

Prix Monuma 2026 Reveals Second-Edition Nominees

The Prix Monuma 2026 has announced the nominees for its second edition, presenting a broad cross-section of Quebec talent working across architecture, interior design, construction, landscape design, product development, and photography. Selected following the jury’s review and deliberations, the nominated companies and professionals reflect the depth of expertise shaping the province’s contemporary built environment.

A Broader View of Quebec’s Design Industry

Rather than treating architecture as an isolated discipline, the awards bring together the many fields involved in creating places and objects. Architects appear alongside contractors, landscape designers, interior studios, furniture makers, and photographers, emphasizing the collaborative process behind successful projects.

The architecture category includes established practices such as ACDF architecture, Atelier Carle, BGLA architecture + design urbain, la Shed architecture, naturehumaine, STGM Architecture, and YH2 Architecture. They are joined by smaller and emerging studios, giving the nominee list a varied mix of practice sizes, design approaches, and areas of specialization.

Design and Construction Share the Spotlight

The design category is the largest group in this year’s announcement, with 19 nominees covering interior architecture, planning, branding, and multidisciplinary creative work. Studios including Blanc Marine Interieurs, Desjardins Bherer, Future Simple Studio, LG2, Michael Godmer Studio, and Taktik design illustrate the range of creative disciplines recognized by the program.

Construction is treated as an equally important part of the design ecosystem. Sixteen companies have been nominated, including Constructif inc., Groupe Manovra inc., Maitre Carre, Modulor, Newsam Construction, and UrbanEco Construction. Their presence acknowledges that design quality depends not only on an initial concept, but also on coordination, technical knowledge, material execution, and careful delivery on site.

Landscape, Products, and Architectural Photography

Eight nominees appear in the outdoor design category, from Friche Atelier and Projet Paysage to MYTO design d’espaces vivants and Relief. This category draws attention to landscape architecture as a vital part of Quebec’s built environment, connecting buildings with vegetation, public space, seasonal conditions, and everyday patterns of use.

The product category highlights seven studios and companies whose work operates at a smaller but no less influential scale. Atelier Pellerin, JETA s.e.n.c., Le Tenon et la Mortaise, NEUF Architectes, PXP – Design integre, Rouillard, and Studio Paguet represent approaches ranging from crafted objects to integrated product systems.

Photography completes the nominee lineup with Mathieu Levesque Photographe and Raphael Thibodeau. Their inclusion recognizes the role of architectural photography in documenting projects, communicating design intentions, and shaping how buildings and interiors are understood beyond their physical locations.

A Gathering for Quebec’s Built Environment

According to Monuma co-founder Marie-Pier Belanger, the second edition confirms the richness of talent found across Quebec. She also emphasizes that each nominated project is supported by teams, partnerships, and specialized knowledge. That observation captures a central theme of the awards: the built environment is produced through shared effort rather than by a single discipline.

The nominated teams will be celebrated during the Prix Monuma gala on September 30, 2026, at Theatre St-James in Montreal. Beyond announcing awards, the event is intended to create a meeting point for professionals across the industry and encourage exchanges between fields that often work closely together but receive recognition separately.

With nominees spanning established firms, independent studios, builders, makers, and visual storytellers, Prix Monuma 2026 offers a useful overview of the people currently influencing architecture and design in Quebec. Tickets for the gala are available through the event’s official ticket page.
