OODA, based in Porto, Portugal, is a multidisciplinary architecture firm comprising over 50 architects of diverse nationalities. Topography as the Foundation of Design

The design of The Oeiras House is deeply rooted in its sloping site. Rather than viewing the terrain as a limitation, OODA embraced it as the project’s defining element. The house’s structure integrates into the slope, with a central patio acting as both a functional hub and an organizing element. This void balances social and private spaces while establishing a visual and physical connection with the surrounding landscape.

The site’s challenging elevation allowed OODA to experiment with innovative volumetric strategies.
