INCHEON, South Korea. Arresting the viewers’ eyes, another structure has appeared in the international city of Songdo, Incheon, adding a new style of exhibition center for the Korean architecture. It is the Tri-Bowl linking three bowl-like structures together. It is a unique art and cultural space Korea has never seen before.
The architecture, which constitutes three-story buildings with one-level basement with a total area of over 27,000 square meters, was erected beside the Central Park Station of Incheon Subway Line #1 in commemoration of the ‘Global Fair & Festival 2009 Incheon, Korea’. The outer walls of the Tri-Bowl are coated with grey aluminum emphasizing the taste of urban refinement. The three bowls represent the sky (airport), the sea (seaport), and the earth (wide transport networks) respectively; or they do Songdo (business), Cheongna economic free zone (leisure), and Yeongjong (distribution).
Installed in it is a performing center where an audience of 500 can enjoy plays and concerts and also a huge hall with both the 2nd and 3rd floors were made into one for exhibitions or events. To get to the building of 18.8 meters high, visitors must cross over a bridge that spans a pool of water 90 meters wide, 50.5 meters long. In harmony with its neighboring skyscrapers and presenting a model of future cities, the Tri-Bowl enraptures the visitors with uncommon nightly lighting.
