Designed by the New York–based studio Callaghan Horiuchi, Arvest at Ledger reaches its one-year milestone as a workplace that moves far beyond conventional office interiors. Conceived as a future-ready headquarters within the Ledger building in Bentonville, the project shows how a financial institution can evolve into a technology-driven, human-centered organization.
Hybrid Work as the Core Framework
The design team organized the 40,000-square-foot floor as a flexible ecosystem supporting shifting work styles. A research-driven process shaped five workplace typologies: Team Homes, Focus Spaces, Collaboration Zones, Experimental Rooms, and Amenity Spaces. These settings allow employees to switch seamlessly between hybrid collaboration and focused individual work.
Technology is embedded throughout, with dual displays, eye-level cameras, and interactive capture systems ensuring remote colleagues remain fully connected.
Biophilic Design as an Organizing Principle
A strong biophilic narrative defines the project. Floor-to-ceiling glazing provides abundant natural light, while daylight-simulating skylights recreate outdoor illumination in interior rooms. Finishes in natural oak, organic-textured carpets, and landscape-inspired wall coverings reinforce visual and sensory links to the outdoors.
Over 1,200 plants shape immersive indoor environments, while soft recycled draperies and custom felt-accent wallcoverings inspired by flowing water create calming and restorative spaces.
Craft, Acoustics, and Material Integrity
Material selections emphasize sustainability and well-being. Meeting rooms lined with recycled PET felt improve acoustics, while sculptural ceiling elements echo natural forms. Locally sourced millwork, terrazzo surfaces, terracotta-toned tiles, and green-certified fabrics strengthen the project’s commitment to healthy, durable materials.
Together, these details create interiors that are visually warm, sensorially balanced, and aligned with long-term sustainability goals.
A Year of Measurable Impact
After twelve months of active use, Arvest at Ledger has proven itself as a transformational workplace. Employees appreciate the ability to choose their ideal environment, the presence of nature integrated into daily routines, and the smooth balance between digital tools and in-person collaboration. The project reflects the studio’s belief that architecture should enrich the human experience, a principle central to Callaghan Horiuchi.
